The dry riser wet testing Suffolk available from Morgan Fire is dedicated to ensuring that fire fighters have a ready supply of water available to deal with any incident.
The British Standard BS9990/2006 stipulates that all types of wet and dry rising mains and all their associated mechanical and electrical equipment to undergo a thorough inspection every 6 months, along with wet test for dry risers annually.
Where facilities provided for this purpose are in private ownership we are able to offer our specialist testing and maintenance expertise to ensure that the apparatus is available for emergency use at all times.
Dry Riser Wet Testing Suffolk
Dry and wet risers are checked and pressure tested to 150 PSL or 10 bar for a minimum of
15 minutes. All insets and outlets are checked for leaks and any missing or faulty items replaced. Flow testing is also carried out. If any valves have to be replaced a further pressure test will be carried out before certification is issued.
It is a recommendation of this Fire Service that dry rising fire mains should be checked every six months to ensure that all valves are fully serviceable and a wet pressure test should be carried out annually to ensure that there is no leakage in line with the procedure laid down in British Standard 5306-0:2011
Annual Wet Pressure Test
Dry risers are vertical mains fitted into staircase enclosures or other suitable positions, with outlet valves on each floor and inlets fitted at ground level to enable the fire brigade to connect to the water supply.
Wet risers are pipes kept permanently charged with water either from a storage tank (via a booster pump) or direct from the town’s main water supply.
The test is designed to ensure that water can be passed through the system under pressure and a pressure gauge reading is recorded. Inability to sustain effective fire-fighting jets from the topmost or furthermost outlets, or any undue pressure loss in the rising main (after allowing for any height involved) is highlighted for investigation.
All inlets, outlets, landing wheel valves, and washers are checked to ensure they are in a satisfactory working condition, and that the inlets and outlets are compatible with Fire Service equipment and readily accessible. Where necessary, washers and blank caps will be supplied and fitted at the time of the test at an additional charge.
Checks are also made to ensure that no fractures or leaks are apparent in the pipe work, and that all valves not in use when the main is charged, remain watertight.
