All types of extinguisher require a regular fire extinguisher inspection to check weight, correct pressure and for signs of corrosion or damage. Cartridge extinguishers are opened up for internal inspection and we check weight of the cartridge. Labels are checked so that they are readable and dip tubes, hoses and mechanisms are checked to see if they work properly.
At Morgan Fire we also check whether the extinguisher is easily accessible.
Which Elements will be Inspected?
During a fire extinguisher inspection carried out by one of our fire prevention technicians there are a number of elements which must be checked. We will ensure that:
- Access to the fire extinguisher is not blocked by anything that could interfere with its accessibility during an emergency such as equipment or coats etc.
- The pressure remains at the recommended level without dropping too low or too high.
- The nozzle or other parts are all in full working order.
- The pin and seal (not all extinguishers will have one) are working and intact.
- There are no dents, leaks, rust, chemical deposits and/or other signs of abuse/wear.
- Remove anything that may have been left on the extinguisher that may impede its use.
We strongly advise adhering to these standards to ensure that you can have complete confidence in your fire extinguishers being fully operational at the time when you most need to use it.
